Media
If you ever wondered what the differences are in art media, it is their components. Watercolor is a combination of water, pigment and a binder, such as gum arabic. Oil paint combines pigment and oil. Acrylic is made up of water, a binder, and pigment. However, the binder is an acrylic polymer. Soft pastels are mostly pigment mixed with water and a binder as well, making them closer to painting with pure pigment.
